About the eyes

The sense of vision is produced by the sophisticated sensory organs that make up the human eye. These organs, which are made up of the cornea, iris, pupil, lens, retina, and optic nerve, are situated inside the skull’s eye sockets. Together, they are able to collect and transform light into electrical impulses that the brain processes into pictures. The movable pupil of the iris controls the amount of light that enters the eye. Our visual experiences depend on the extraordinary capacity of our eyes to detect a vast spectrum of colors, adjust to different lighting conditions, and offer depth perception.
